A Very Important Announcement from 4Youth
The Board of 4Youth, along with the organisation’s staff team, has been working hard over the last few months to identify opportunities that ensure that our affiliated members are provided with stronger, more sustainable support for their work with young people across Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton.
More so than ever the youth sector is moving towards a partnership and collaborative approach. With this in mind we recently approached UK Youth, a national charity with similar values to our own, to begin conversations about a potential strategic partnership. Through this process, and factors driven by the changes in the youth sector, we have taken the decision that the best way to ensure a sustainable and vibrant future for local youth work support is for 4Youth to move towards closure and leave a positive legacy.
This means that on 30th September 2016, 4Youth will be formally closing. In order to make this happen smoothly we will be carrying out two phases of activity. Phase one will begin on 1st September 2016, when 4Youth’s membership will be integrated into UK Youth’s network, free of charge for two years; a move that we believe strengthens and secures the future of local services and will provide ongoing membership support. All 4Youth members will automatically become UK Youth Hub Members.
After ensuring the delivery of our existing work programmes, we will then move towards the Second Phase of formally closing 4Youth on 30th September 2016.
We believe we are taking the right steps to help ensure the local youth work sector can continue to thrive and to provide the creative, dynamic and supportive services local young people need and deserve. We do so guided by the same motivation that led to the formation of 4Youth in 1942 and that has guided our work ever since; supporting young people and those individuals and organisations working with young people, and know that UK Youth believe the same.
Thank you for your support of 4Youth.
